Job Description:Patrol Supervisor

Department: Operations

Reports To: Area Operations Manager/Branch Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time (Rotational shifts; primary oversight during nights, weekends, and holidays)

Job Summary

The Patrol Supervisor is a critical field leadership role responsible for the direct oversight, accountability, performance evaluation and completing timesheet of G4S Security Officers across assigned sectors. Operating a company-issued patrol vehicle or motorcycle, the Supervisor conducts unannounced site visits, audits guard posture and uniform compliance, manages shift scheduling issues, and acts as the senior tactical responder to major incidents. The primary objective is to guarantee contract compliance and maintain the highest standard of G4S operational excellence on the ground.

Core Responsibilities & Duties

1. Guard Management

  • Conduct unannounced field inspections and audits of security officers at their designated posts to assess alertness, uniform readiness, and adherence to Post Orders.

  • Evaluate and formalize guard performance, documenting infractions such sleeping on post, or procedural deviations.

  • Deliver on-the-spot corrections, coaching, and disciplinary actions in compliance with G4S human resources and operational policies.

  • Ensure all on-duty officers are fully conversant with site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and emergency evacuation protocols.

2. Operational Administration & Scheduling

  • Manage shift handovers, check-ins, and muster parades to ensure 100% post-coverage across the sector.

  • Resolve immediate staffing shortages, call-outs, and no-shows by dynamically filling open posts.

  • Verify and approve physical or digital guard timesheets, daily activity reports, and shift logs for accuracy.

  • Conduct initial on-site onboarding and practical training for newly assigned security personnel.

3. Incident Command & Advanced Response

  • Respond immediately as the senior on-site authority to high-level alarms, breaches, medical crises, or structural emergencies.

  • Oversee the compilation of comprehensive, legally sound incident reports, ensuring all statements, evidence, and CCTV logs are properly preserved.

 

Key Skills & Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in the private security industry (with at least 1 year in a team lead or supervisory capacity)

  • Driver's Credentials: Must possess a valid, clean driver’s license (Class A/Motorcycle endorsement if assigned to a bike unit) and valid Ghana Card

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

 

Leadership & Physical Demands

  • Command Presence: Ability to enforce discipline, command respect from subordinates, and project authority to clients and the public.

  • Conflict Resolution: Advanced skills in de-escalation, dispute mediation, and handling employee grievances fairly.
