An Armed Guard is responsible for safeguarding people, property, and assets by maintaining vigilance, controlling access at the point of entry, surveillance, identifying and responding to security threats, and preventing criminal activities through physical presence and deter threats by using legally permitted weapons. The role requires strict adherence to guidelines and all Policies and Procedures at all times.
Armed Guard performs duties at locations assigned by the G4S, including but not limited to offices, commercial/industrial premises, and residential complexes. He shall carry and operate licensed firearms and maintain them in safe working condition.
Key Responsibilities
Protection & Vigilance
Guard assigned premises, personnel, and valuables.
Monitor entry/exit points and verify the identity of visitors.
Prevent unauthorized access and report suspicious activity.
Arms Handling
Carry and operate licensed firearms responsibly.
Ensure weapons are maintained, secured, and used only as per law.
Emergency Response
Act promptly in case of security breaches, theft, or violence.
Coordinate with police and controlling authority when required.
Compliance
Maintain discipline, proper uniform, and identification card.
Adhere to G4S Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Must be an Indian citizen.
Age: 18–65 years.
Minimum height 5’7”
Minimum educational qualification: 10th standard.
Physically fit and mentally sound.
No criminal record; Antecedent verification mandatory.
The Armed Guard shall not be addicted to alcohol, drugs, or intoxicants
Must have completed prescribed live firing training, including firearms handling and firearms maintenance.
Must be the legal owner of the firearms and ammunition held with a firearm license issued to him by the licensing authority.
Must have a valid weapons license for a non-prohibited weapon as prescribed by law
The weapons license must be valid in the state of proposed deployment of the guard
G4S recruits only Gunmen with 12-bore single/double-barreled guns/ .22 pistol/ revolver.
Ex-servicemen with a valid license and weapon are preferred to be employed as Armed Guards
He needs to be alert, calm and confident to control situations effectively using personal initiative.
Proficiency in handling firearms safely.
Alertness, discipline, and integrity.
Ability to manage stressful situations.
Good communication and observation skills.
Knowledge of basic law and order procedures.
Observe safety norms while handling firearms.
Onboarding:
At the time of joining the training, the armed guard must carry the following documents:
Aadhar Card.
Education certificates.
Verification by the police/gram panchayat.
Mandatory health check-up for medical, physical and mental health stability by a Registered Medical Practitioner
Weapon mentioned in the license (without ammunition).
Original license of the weapon.
The date of license validity should not be less than 6 months from the date of issue.
