Position Title: Grade C Control Room Operator
Industry: Private Security
Grading Compliance: PSIRA Grade C & NBCPSS (National Bargaining Council for the Private Security Sector)
Location: Germiston, Gauteng
The Grade C Control Room Operator is responsible for the centralized monitoring of surveillance systems, alarm coordination, and incident management. The role requires a high degree of situational awareness and the ability to coordinate rapid response units while maintaining strict compliance with PSIRA regulations and NBCPSS standards.
Education: Successful completion of Grade 12 (Matric) is mandatory.
PSIRA Registration: Must hold a valid and active PSIRA Grade C (or higher) registration.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience within a security control room environment is required.
Vetting Status:
Must have a clean criminal record (SAPS clearance required).
Must have a clean credit record (ITC clearance required).
Computer Literacy/Information Technology: Essential for operating complex security software interfaces like HikCentral, Dahua DSS, and electronic occurrence logs.
Communication Skills: Critical for high-pressure emergency dispatching and clear reporting between teams and clients
Surveillance Monitoring: Conduct continuous monitoring of live CCTV feeds for residential, commercial, or industrial sites to detect unauthorized access or suspicious activity.
Alarm & Incident Response: Respond promptly to panic signals and alarm activations by dispatching appropriate armed response units or emergency services.
Communication: Maintain professional radio and telephonic communication with field personnel, clients, and emergency responders (SAPS/Medical).
Reporting: Generate detailed electronic occurrence logs and incident reports for all activities and breaches occurring during the shift.
Technical Support: Identify, log, and report system faults related to CCTV cameras and alarm infrastructure to technical teams.
Access Control: Remotely manage and verify vehicle and personnel access to network towers or sensitive facilities using specialized verification systems.
Discipline: Ability to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols under minimal supervision.
Attention to Detail: High accuracy in monitoring equipment and recording chronological event logs.
Stress Management: Remaining calm and focused during high-pressure emergency situations.
Integrity: Absolute reliability in handling confidential client data and sensitive security information.
Salary is based on the NBCPSS Main Agreement for Grade C Officers within the relevant geographical area.
Statutory benefits including Provident Fund and Medical Insurance as per NBCPSS regulations.
Shift-based work schedule (12-hour shifts) involving nights, weekends, and public holidays.
